Bringing Your Puppy Home

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

When bringing your puppy home there are some things you need to know an have prepared. Included in this post is details of the puppy pack as well as recommendations.

Step 1 - Waiting list

Fill out all forms & questionnaires and send them back to be assessed and put on our waiting list. If there is an upcoming or current litter we will contact you a few times before asking for a deposit. Deposits are non-refundable so thats why we assess and contact you first trying to make sure that you are sure and ready for a new family member.

Step 2 - Updates and Puppy selection

While we provide regular updates online (web page and YouTube) the wait list allocated for the current litter will also receive text message or email updates. You can voice your opinion on which puppy you favour from 3 weeks when the last deposits are due.

Step 3 - Meet & Greet and Training Sessions

Around 6 weeks I will be confirming puppy choices with families at the first meet & greet session. These sessions are for you to see mum and the pups, hopefully dad can make it to a session as well. Each week there will be one session that will be about an hour and will focus on some basic training, enjoyment exercises, and cuddle time. At anytime if you pup makes a mess you will be expected to clean it up. Everything needed will be provided.

Step 4 - Taking pup home

During our many update and check up calls we will touch on the week you bring your pup home. Our recommendation is 10-12 weeks as puppies have received a large majority of the health care needed to start a happy successful life. They receive their second vaccination around 10 weeks. Assistance or companion dogs staying on for training will be able to go home for short visits to create close bonds with their new owners.

Step 5 - Life at a new home

Remember everything is new for puppy so leaving their mum to come live with you is scary at first. Some puppies may not eat for a while, some may hide, and some may toilet everywhere. Remember you pup is still vulnerable to illnesses and is in home quarantine till after their 3rd vaccination and you vet gives you the go ahead, usually around 16 weeks. This means you need to limit visitors, and not have other dogs in your home. If you forget something you learnt or need some help we are only ever a call away but you have a binder in your puppy pack full of helpful info. Enjoy you new furever family member.

Complementary Puppy Packs

- bag of kibble (small) - large bottle of water - Puppy Pads (small pack)

This is included with you puppy but we do have larger puppy packs available for purchase at cost price. We do all the work in looking for items, collecting them and getting these packs ready for you and new little one.

What you need to purchase to be ready for your pup.

If you purchase one of our larger puppy packs a large majority of the things you need will be included but you will still need:

- Flea and Worming Tablets (Recommended - NexGard Spectra Very Small Dog)

- Puppy Pen - Crate

- More toys! - More Puppy pads!

- food for when our small pack runs out - Vet plan

If you really don't want to purchase a puppy pack remember to purchase all these items before you bring your little ones home as we do require a picture or view of your setup in our final checkup call before puppy comes home.

Remember it is important to us that these pups are going to only the best loving homes and that the future owners are prepared. We will be hosting info sessions and check up calls and you will be required to provide a reference and vet information. We aim to make this process as easy and fun as we can as well as providing tons of information and help to the future owners, regardless if your pup will be an assistance/ companion dog or a loving pet.
